I am in the market for a new cell phone. I just lost mine the other day which is fine with me since it was pretty old anyways but it does create an inconvenience. I am not sure which phone I should get and I am no longer under contract so I am not married to a certain carrier. Right now I am thinking it will be a good time to buy iphone since they just rolled it out onto Verizon. I don’t currently have Verizon but I’m digging the idea of an iphone with everything unlimited instead of that 2GB non-sense AT&T pushes on their customers.

I just checked my cell phone bill from when I was on vacation. Its not nearly as bad as I thought. Normally I don’t make any calls but I did need to make one phone call from the cruise ship. I decided to take my chances using my cell and the ships cell tower instead of the actual cabin phone. The rates on the cruise ship are roughly 8 dollars a minute if I use the cabin phone. I wasn’t sure what my cell rate would be but I was sure it was much cheaper. It turns out that I paid about 10 dollars for a 5 minute call, so it looks like I made the correct choice.

I just ran across a quirky iPhone app. It is definitely tailored for a certain niche and not for everyone, it gives news and information on mesothelioma.

this is a summary from the iPhone apps store

About Mesothelioma News, Support and Information
This webapp contains news, updates and information for those who suffer from the lung cancer mesothelioma, also known as asbestos cancer, or who know someone who does. Formatted for your iPhone or iPod Touch, we bring you only the best daily resources about this deadly disease from around the web.

It boggles my mind how many different apps there are for the iPhone. This is just another example of what one can find if you look hard enough. Actually now that I think about it I didn’t even have to look for it, I just sort of stumbled across it.

Its just been reported that Apple has surpassed RIM to become the nations second biggest smartphone provider. Of the nearly 40 million smartphones sold in the third quarter approximately 17% were Apple iPhones surpassing the RIM made Blackberry line of phones for the first time. What this means is people love the iPhone 3G. RIM sold a little over 6 million Blackberries which is a staggering amount for a third place finish. Now the question is will Apple build on this success or will RIM take it back when it releases the Storm and Bold later on this month.
