Finding a New Hobby

I was a bit of a geek as a child and I am proud to say I have never moved beyond that phase of my life. When I was a kid my main obsessions were comic books and model planes. These days my interests are in anything tech related. Computers, tablets and cell phones are all right up my alley. I have a friend that is trying to get me into remote control nitro cars but at the moment I think I have too much on my plate.

However, I will say that some of the remote control planes I have checked out have really caught my eye. I think once I manage to free up adequate funds I may have to dip my toe into that pool.

Fixing Up My Floors

I have hardwood floors in my home. The problem is I have an old house and these floors have seen better days. I want to look into getting them restored but to be perfectly honest that may be cost prohibitive. So, my next choice would be to get quick step laminate flooring. The look is top notch and it the price is so much more appealing than a full on restoration project. Aside from the desire to keep things as original as possible it look like the laminate is just a better decision.

Taking Care of My Little Niece

My little niece just got her first new car, a 2011 Nissan Sentra. Since she will be starting back to school in about a week I figured I would get her a little present. So I got her some nissan sentra custom floor mats. While I am the type of person who keeps their cars pretty stock many people like to trick them out. I figure this will be a way to get her started out with making the new vehicle her own. Besides they are much cheaper than buying her rims.

My New Hangout Spot

I was over helping a friend of mine put the finishing touches on their new restaurant. They were getting things ready for the grand opening, so it was mostly unloading trucks, cleaning and polishing. The good news is after we were done working we got to play the role of customers. Since the staff needed to be trained up on procedures and how to use the POS systems they needed customers. Everything was on the house and got to play roles such as difficult customer, indecisive customer and inappropriate customer. It was all good fun and I even got a bottle of wine on the house. I’ve never known a restaurateur so I’m pretty excited about having a new hangout spot to watch football games on Sunday afternoons.

The Perfect Vacation

A couple of weeks ago I was on vacation in the Dominican Republic. This was my first time there and also my first time at an all-inclusive resort, it was a great experience. If you have never been to an all-inclusive resort I highly recommend you visit one. While I didn’t really know what I was doing when I booked, I must have lucked out since I received great food, great service and a beautiful resort. In fact, the only downside to the whole trip was me losing a really nice pair of persol sunglasses. These were my first semi-expensive sunglasses as I am usually the type of person who buys the 20 dollar throwaway glasses in the airport gift shop. However I can tell you I won’t be going back to the cheap kind as I simply fell in love with this pair. I’ll be ordering another pair right after I’m done writing this blog entry.
